USA Looks To Grab Medals in Swimming as Finals Begin This Morning
All the hype will turn into reality tonight when Michael Phelps competes in the 400 meter Individual Medley. Phelps is seeking his first of what could be eight gold medals by the end of the swimming competition. His biggest threat is Ryan Lochte, who gave him some competition at the trials held in Nebraska last July.

Also competing tonight is Grant Hackett for Australia in the 400 meter freestyle final. A veteran swimmer, Hackett is searching for his sixth Olympic medal. He won silver in this event four years ago. The women's 400 meter individual medley final and the women's 4x100m freestyle relay final will be contested as well.

Women's Road Race Preview
Sixty-six riders will compete today in cycling's women's road race, to be contested at 11PM tonight (11AM Beijing Time). Medal contenders include Australian Kate Bates, Dutch rider and 2006 world champion Marianne Vos and German rider Judith Arndt. Like the men yesterday, the riders will bike their way through the streets of Beijing, passing historic sites and finishing near the Great Wall. Unlike the men, the course will be much shorter as it is 126 km in length.
