LIVE Day 9 Competiton Blog

It is the BUSIEST DAY OF COMPETITION of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing, China. There will be 39 sets of medals awarded today, everywhere from swimming to track and field, and nearly everything in between. I know yesterday's LIVE BLOG didn't work out so well, but I'm back home where its easier to control my sleeping habits.

2:35AM - Sorry for the delay. No, I haven't been sleeping. The Cover it Live! LIVE BLOG window is back below, so please refer to there for our continuing LIVE BLOG covering the action of Day 9.

2:08AM - The other final going on right now is in sailing as series races take place at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre. About to start is the women's singles gold medal final in tennis between Russian Elena Dementieva and Dinara Safina.

2:05AM - This is a bit of a shocking result if you had watched the event unfold. Matthew Emmons of the United States had this event won coming into the final shot, but he shot a 4.4 in his last shot in a very unexpected result. This low score gave the Chinese the gold medal and Matt finishes outside of the medals. This is very much like a replay of the event in Athens when Emmons had the lead, but then shot into the wrong target and ended up finishing last.

2AM - So we have the results of the Men's 50m 3-position shooting event. Results available here.

1:56AM - So as you can maybe see, we're experiencing technical difficulties with our LIVE BLOG. I'm still with you though as we continue with Day 9. Two finals are underway right now in sailing and shooting.
