Day 1 10PM Update: Weightlifting and Shooting To Award First Medals of Olympics

At the 10 o'clock hour, things get in full swing as we have many events going on at the same time, which warrants the need for these hourly updates.

In this hour:
- Women's 48kg Weightlifting competition
China may very well win their first medal in this competition as its athletes have won the last three world championships in this weight class.

-Shooting: Women's 10m Air Rifle Final
This is scheduled to be the first gold medal event to be completed. China could claim its first gold medal here to behind China's Du Li, vying for her second Olympic medal.

-Women's Basketball: Australia is up by 12 currently over Belarus as they approach the end of the third quarter.

-Fencing: Women's Individual Sabre Competition
The preliminary rounds take place in this discipline of fencing.

-Badminton: Early rounds

ON TV:
Opening ceremonies continue on NBC right now.

USA Women's Volleyball team take on Japan and the world's best male cyclists take the streets of Beijing on the NBC Daytime show, starting at 10AM.
