The featured gold medal event of Day 1 will be shown in the daytime on Saturday as the world's best male cyclists wind through the streets of Beijing in this historic race.

First Day of Competition Already Underway
The eventing competition is already taking place in Hong Kong as riders gear up for the three day event, starting today with the dressage. The first gold medal of these games will be at stake tonight at 10:30PM ET when the women's 10m air rifle shooting event takes place at the Beijing Shooting Range.
Today's competition is mostly preliminary and qualifying events. The male gymnasts perform today in qualifying for the team and individual competition while the swimming heats in the 400 meter individual medley will take place later tonight in Beijing (tomorrow morning in the United States).
The top medal event of today's competition will be contested along the streets of Beijing. Italy's Paolo Bettini will look to defend his gold medal in the men's road race competition while American rider George Hincapie and British rider Mark Cavendish are medal contenders as well.
