Day 5 7:30AM Update: USA Men's Soccer Knocked Out by Nigeria

Following the 2-2 draw with the Netherlands on Sunday, the United States came into today's final preliminary round match knowing that they must win over Nigeria. But they fell to a 2-0 deficit before Sacha Klijestan scored in the 88th minute for the United States. The Americans were knocked out of the tournament after a 2-1 loss to Nigeria.

The Americans were forced to play with only 10 men after a red card was issued to Michael Orozco after three minutes, elbowing an opponent right in front of the referee. With one man down, the task to win over the fast moving Nigerians proved impossible. Meanwhile, the Netherlands defeated Japan 1-0 to join Nigeria in the quarterfinals.
