Day 2 9:30AM Update: Evening Update (Diving and Cycling Results)

Sorry for the lack of updates on Day 2, but I'm still trying to adjust to my Olympic Sleep Schedule.

The second day of competition at the Games of the XXIX Olympiad is slowly coming to a close but there is still some games and events going on, though most of the medals for Day 2 have already been decided.

ON TV...
Currently, both USA Network and MSNBC are showing men's preliminary soccer matches. The United States vs. Netherlands is on USA Network and Italy vs. South Korea is on MSNBC.

At 10AM, live coverage of USA vs China can be seen on NBC. It is expected to be the most watched event so far, given that it is live and on a Sunday morning. During the daytime show you can also see coverage of the women's cycling road race as well as more beach volleyball and swimming.

And tonight in primetime, see tape delayed coverage of the women's gymnastics qualifications and today's women's 3m synchronized diving competition.

Going on now/Coming up...
Men's soccer preliminaries continue. The United States leads the Netherlands after Sacha Kljestan tied the game in the 65th minute. Then Jozy Altidore just scored the go-ahead goal for the United States in the 73rd minute. Italy has a 2-0 hold over South Korea.

The men's fencing individual epee gold medal match just concluded. Matteo Tagliariol of Italy defeated Fabrice Jeannet of France in the gold medal bout by a score of 15-9. Jose Luis Abajo of Spain won the bronze medal in sudden touch overtime.

Swimming preliminaries have just concluded at the Water Cube, with heats happening in the men's 100m backstroke as well as the men's 200m freestyle and women's 100m breaststroke.

Men's basketball preliminaries still occuring as Australia is currently facing Croatia. They are now in the fourth quarter as Croatia leads the Aussies 73-55. The United States will face China after this game concludes in a most anticipated matchup of the round-robin portion of this basketball tournament.
